The Soul to Be Carried Forward by the Sailors of Destroyer-from From Voice of Korea

  A ceremony of launching state-of-the-art multi-mission destroyer was held in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on April 25, 2025.

  April 25, 1932, is a meaningful day when the first revolutionary armed force of Korea was born.

  The ceremony of launching destroyer took place on such significant day.

  The destroyer was named after Choe Hyon.

  Lecturer So Un Gyong at the Korean Revolution Museum said Choe Hyon is a veteran general who left brilliant traces of life in the glorious history of the revolutionary armed forces of Korea, and continued:

  “The anti-Japanese revolutionary fighter Choe Hyon was a revolutionary and veteran general who devoted all his soul only to the Party and the leader, the country and the revolution till the last moment of his life from the days of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle organized and led by the great leader Kim Il Sung.

  The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un named the multi-mission destroyer, the first of its kind in the Korean history, after Choe Hyon and saw to it that the sailors of the destroyer carry forward the noble loyalty and lofty soul cherished by him all his life.”

  The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a meaningful speech on the day when the ceremony of launching destroyer was held.

  In the speech, he said that we named the first destroyer of a new generation after Choe Hyon, who lives in our memories as a symbol of bravery and mettle because we hope our sailors’ spirit will be impregnated with his soul so that the Navy will achieve victory unprecedented in the annals of its history.

  And he recalled commanding officers of guerrilla origin who performed considerable exploits in liberating our country and afterwards, loyally supported the great leader Kim Il Sung and assisted him with unshakable faith and remarkable military qualifications in repulsing the allied imperialist forces.

  The sailors should regard it as their absolute mission to fight self-sacrificingly to defend the dignity of their country and the safety of their fellow people by faithfully carrying forward their forerunners’ courage and indomitable spirit, he added.

  It is the noble intention of Kim Jong Un to make the sailors of the destroyer and other service personnel of the People’s Army cherish the courage and indomitable spirit of the generation of the army founding as their eternal soul of defence.
