August 15 represents dignity and glory for our motherland.
In the gloomy days when the dark clouds of national ruin hanged heavily over our sky, President Kim Il Sung shouldered the destiny of the nation. He aroused the entire nation to a pan-national resistance with the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army at its core, defeated the brigands of Japanese imperialists and ultimately brought about the balmy spring of country’s liberation.
He set forth the idea of self-reliant independence as he set out on the road of revolution and waged an indomitable struggle true to the spirit of making the Korean revolution by Koreans themselves, leading the unprecedentedly arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary war to victory.
With the day of August 15, our people regained all that they had lost–their sovereignty, territory, resources, history and culture–and secured all possibilities for achieving their freedom and carving out their destiny, thus embarking with the dignity befitting masters on the road of their great pioneering cause of democratic development and wellbeing.
August 15 marked the day of victory when our nation accomplished their long-cherished desire for freedom and independence, as well as the start of their struggle to build a powerful country so as to put an end to the history of sufferings for good.
After the liberation, Korean people have braved all ordeals and hardships by dint of dignity and perseverance and under the guidance of the great leader, built the political system, the economy and defense capabilities in our own way and waged a tenacious struggle to defend the idea and social system of their choice and to build a powerful, prosperous country.
Invariably following the line of independence put forward by President Kim Il Sung in the flames of anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, our people will surely build a powerful and ever-prosperous country on this land, single-heartedly united around respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and by dint of their characteristic dignity and perseverance.
