Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) — The First Plenary Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 15th Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was held at the Pyongyang Assembly Hall on June 11.
Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., Workers’ Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the SPA Standing Committee, presided over the plenary meeting.
Present there were Vice-Chairman Kim Hyong Sik, Secretary General Ko Kil Son and other members of the SPA Standing Committee.
Present as observers were officials concerned of the SPA Standing Committee, the Secretariat of the Cabinet, and ministries and national agencies.
The plenary meeting discussed as agenda items the issue of deliberating and adopting the Law of the DPRK on Academic Degrees and Titles and the issue of electing judges and people’s assessors of the Supreme Court.
There was a report on the main contents of the draft law examined at the Legislation Committee of the SPA.
On the basis of study and discussion of the draft law, the plenary meeting adopted with full approval the decree of the SPA Standing Committee “On Adopting the Law of the DPRK on Academic Degrees and Titles”.
The plenary meeting elected judges and people’s assessors of the Supreme Court of the DPRK. -0-
